Repository: Target Environment

LoadGen can monitor environments that offer Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix XenApp, Citrix XenDesktop, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, VMware Horizon, and FAT Client (i.e. Windows 10 or Windows 11).

 

LoadGen separates the Target Environments into 5 sections:
 
  • Citrix or Citrix Enhanced: Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix XenApp, Citrix XenDesktop, and Azure RemoteApp. Read more about the difference between Basic and Enhanced.
  • RDS: Microsoft Remote Desktop Services.
  • Windows 7 or 10 (Fat Client): Windows 7 and later or Windows Server 2008 and later.
  • VMware Horizon: VMware Horizon.
  • Azure Virtual Desktop: aka Windows Virtual Desktop.

Create a new Target Environment

  1. Press the Create new Target Environment button.
  2. On the Create new Target Environment section provide the following information:
    1. The Target Environment name.
    2. The description of the current Schedule.
    3. Select the technology you want to monitor.

Citrix

  1. Select the LoadGen Citrix basic or enhanced way to connect to your Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktop environment, read more about the basic and enhanced Target Environments.
  2. Choose how you want to connect to the Citrix environment:
    1. Storefront
    2. PNAgent
    3. ICA File
    4. We are working on connecting via a NetScaler, Azure AD, and Azure AD with ADFS, this feature will be out in the near future. Contact us for more information.
  3. Configure the desired color depth and resolution of your Citrix session.

 

Citrix Enhanced

Follow the steps as described in the Citrix Target Environment (just above this item). Make sure you have installed the LoadGen Addin on your Citrix environment.

 

 

Windows 7 or 10 (Fat Client)

You don't have to add additional steps for setting up this Target Environment.

 

Microsoft Remote Desktop

  1. Select the correct Remote Desktop configuration settings for your environment.
  2. Configure the desired color depth and resolution of your RDS session.
  3. Make sure you have installed the LoadGen Agent on your Remote Desktop servers.

 

VMware

Available in Q4 of 2021.

 

Azure Virtual Desktop

Available in Q4 of 2021.

 

Edit the Target Environment

To edit or view the Target Environment you can click the gearbox icon in the first column of the main page of the specific Target Environment.
