You have finished the following tutorial:
Step 1: Start the LoadGen Configurator
- Start the LoadGen Configurator from the Windows Start Menu.
- Chose Yes to allow the app to make changes to your device.
Step 2: Update available?
- Every time you start a LoadGen Application, the application will check if there is a new version available.
- If there is a new version, please choose Download & Install so you can benefit from the latest features and improvements.
- You can view the release changes in the changelog pane before downloading.
- When the LoadGen Configurator is ready, the LoadGen AutoUpdate tool will automatically start the new version.
- If you see the Welcome page, please click Next.
Step 3: Download and Installation the update
- The download status window will open and will show you the progress of the update.
- After the successful download of the update, the LoadGen AutoUpdater will process the file and update the LoadGen applications on your machine.
Step 4: The LoadGen Configurator Welcome Page
- Once the update is completed the LoadGen Configurator wizard will open.
- You will receive a couple of emails from LoadGen. If you have activated your trial, you will also receive an email with your username and password. If you have purchased a subscription LoadGen or a LoadGen Partner will send you your username and password. Please check your spam folder if you don't receive an email from LoadGen in a timely manner.
- You can press the Activate LoadGen with a LoadGen Cloud account option.
- Press Next.
- Now login with the credentials we have sent you via email.
Trial: If you want to test drive LoadGen
- In the LoadGen Free Trial period, you can test any of our LoadGen products for 21 days.
- Select which type of LoadGen Testing Software you would like to trial and click Next:

LoadGen Load & Performance Testing

LoadGen End-to-End Monitoring
LoadGen End-to-End Monitoring executes user simulations at scheduled times, whether that is every 5 minutes or at key points. This extensive monitoring gives you insight into the performance of applications at different levels: the start-up time for example, or the performance of individual components or actions. The LoadGen Agents are placed in key areas so that they show any differences in performance at various locations and test the authenticity of complaints. LoadGen Functional & Automated Testing
The extensive LoadGen Functional & Automated Testing options make it possible to create simulations and functional tests for users that address their specific queries. Different test cases can be created in LoadGen Studio that focuses on aspects such as functionality, user convenience, efficiency, and flexibility. A time-saving method that can be integrated with building automation tools such as Jenkins and Visual Studio Team.

LoadGen determines which product will be installed, based on your subscription or your type of choice in the trial forms on the LoadGen website. If you want to try a different LoadGen product, please contact us directly.
Step 5: Download and install prerequisites
- Click the Download & Install button
- Make sure you have the VC Runtime libraries installed.
- Make sure you have read and understood the System Requirements of LoadGen.
- Make sure you have a SQL Database available, if you want to try LoadGen you can also choose to install SQL Express for the time being.
Step 6: Choose your Target Environment
- Choose your target environment; you can choose between the following targets:

Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop:
Test a Published Desktop or Published Application; you can also use this target to test against the Citrix Cloud or Azure Citrix Express services. -
Microsoft Remote Desktop Services:
Test a Microsoft Desktop or Published Application; you can also use this target to test against Azure RemoteApp, and VMware Horizon, and to start a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) file. -
Azure Virtual Desktop:
If you want to test Azure Virtual Desktop, please continue and follow this article. -
Fat Client:
Test a standard workstation or server, right from the console session. We support Windows 7 and higher and Windows 2008 R2 and higher. - WebTesting: from LoadGen release Q2 2023 we offer native web testing, please continue and follow this article to set up web testing.

- If you have chosen your correct target environment name your test in the How do you want to call this test? field.
