Tutorial: Getting Started with LoadGen

Welcome to LoadGen, the comprehensive solution for your performance testing, functional verification, and end-to-end monitoring needs. In this guide, we'll walk you through the first steps towards utilizing our powerful suite of software tools designed to optimize your IT environment, enhance user experience, and streamline your testing processes.

The three primary components of the LoadGen suite we will focus on are:

  • LoadGen Load & Performance Testing: This is our premier load, performance, and stress testing software. It's built to ensure your IT environment is functioning at its best, which is a vital foundation for any thriving business. This tool uncovers underlying issues and tests the potential impact of changes on user experience in advance, providing a proactive, user-friendly, and swift approach to maintaining your IT infrastructure.
  • LoadGen End-to-End Monitoring: This service is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of your user experience. With this tool, you'll be able to identify areas for improvement, verify the validity of complaints, and ensure consistent performance across different locations.   • LoadGen Functional & Automated Testing: This service enables you to create simulations and functional tests specific to your users' needs. It allows for the creation of a variety of test cases focusing on functionality, user convenience, efficiency, and flexibility. Additionally, this tool integrates seamlessly with build automation tools like Jenkins and Visual Studio Team, making it a valuable asset in any developer's toolkit.

We're excited to help you get started with LoadGen and make the most of these powerful tools. By the end of this tutorial, you'll have a strong understanding of how to install and start using the LoadGen suite.

Let's get started!

Step 1: Download the LoadGen installer

  1. Download the Bootstrap.zip file from the LoadGen website.
  2. Extract and run the Bootstrap.exe from the downloaded zip file. This bootstrapper is designed to simplify the download and installation process of the LoadGen Installer.
  3. Upon running, click the Download & Install button to begin downloading the LoadGen Installer.

Step 2: LoadGen Cloud Client Installer

After downloading, the LoadGen Cloud Client Installer will launch, greeting you with a welcome message. This wizard will guide you through the setup process. Click Start Installation to proceed.

Step 3: End-User License Agreement (EULA)

  1. Carefully read the End-User License Agreement.
  2. To proceed, scroll to the bottom of the EULA, enabling the I Accept option to become active.
  3. Select I Accept if you agree to the terms and conditions (mandatory to proceed with the installation).

Step 4: Login to Your Account

  1. Enter your username (which is your e-mail address provided during your trial request or provided by LoadGen Support) and password. The password is sent to you after activating your LoadGen Cloud tenant in the mail sent by LoadGen (check your junk folder in case you did not receive this email).
  2. Click Login to authenticate and proceed.

Step 5: Select Products to Install

  1. In the product selection window, click on LoadGen Configurator to select it for installation. A green check will appear, indicating your selection.
  2. Click Install to initiate the installation of the selected products.

Step 6: Installing Selected Products

Monitor the download and installation progress through the progress bars. The process will show both Download Progress and Installation Progress percentages.

Once the installation completes, the LoadGen Configurator will automatically start, guiding you through the final steps of setting up your LoadGen Load and Performance Testing or LoadGen Functional and Automated Testing environments.
