We are proud to announce the Q1 2026 release of LoadGen.
This release introduces the new LoadGen FunctionalEngine, a dedicated executable for running functional tests outside of Studio. It enables headless execution, supports both elevated and normal user contexts, and is designed for automation scenarios such as scheduled tasks, service-based execution, and CI/CD-style integrations. Alongside this major addition, this release also delivers a wide range of enhancements and fixes across the Director, Studio, and Agent components to improve stability, usability, and execution reliability.
Our focus this quarter has been on making functional execution more flexible, improving Citrix, AVD, and WebTesting reliability, and refining the day-to-day experience in LoadGen Director and Studio.
LoadGen - Director
- StoreFront authentication update – StoreFront authentication has been updated to use explicit forms, improving compatibility with current Citrix environments.
- AVD runtime stability – Running a test in Azure Virtual Desktop no longer results in null reference issues during execution.
- Load profile stability – Opening a Load Profile has been hardened and no longer triggers the related issue seen in earlier versions.
- Test user processing – Test users connected to LoadGen Agents are now processed correctly during test execution.
- Test execution reliability – Resolved an issue where a test could start but then do nothing.
- Dashboard save stability – Director no longer appears to hang after saving dashboards and then stopping again.
- SUT counter handling – SUT configurations now correctly understand and process
<all instances>. - Dashboard behavior during tests – Several dashboard issues that could occur during an active test have been addressed.
- Build automation cleanup – The SA DLL has been removed from build automation as part of ongoing cleanup and simplification.
LoadGen Agent
- LocalClient notification icon – When running with “show notification icon with transaction,” the LocalClient now displays execution details correctly when hovering.
- OBUX support – Added support for OBUX scenarios within the Agent component.
- Core Agent stop stability – Fixed a Core exception that could occur when stopping a test.
- Ping request endpoint reliability – Resolved a bug in the Core Agent ping request endpoint.
- WebRecorder user handling – The Core Agent now correctly handles users with spaces when passing them to the WebRecorder.
LoadGen Studio
- FunctionalEngine integration – Functional tests can now be executed through the new LoadGen FunctionalEngine, offering a cleaner separation between Studio-based authoring and runtime execution.
- Copy File and Copy Folder flexibility – Functional and normal mode now allow wildcards and variables in Copy File and Copy Folder actions.
- Environment variables and wildcards in file actions – FAT workloads now support environment variables and wildcards in Copy File and related file actions.
- IO File variable support – Added variable support for IO File operations.
- UAI StartProcess timeout – Added timeout support to UAI StartProcess actions.
- Lost focus support – Added support for detecting lost focus of Windows applications.
- App/Block Buffer action – Introduced a new App/Block Buffer action for more flexible workload design.
- Copy folder help text – Corrected the typo in the “Copy folder” help text.
- WebTesting mouse actions – WebTesting now supports mouse move and mouse drag recording and playback.
- Citrix Basic resize – Resize functionality in Citrix Basic now works correctly again.
- Web browser startup – Resolved an issue where the web browser could no longer be started.
- Functional reporting – Fixed the exception in the Functional report flow.
- Timeout counter display – The timeout counter before starting testing is no longer shown twice.
- Window Action special characters – Window Action now works correctly with special characters.
- Free Text special characters – Special characters are now allowed and handled correctly in Free Text.
- Citrix reconnect behavior – A disconnected Citrix session now correctly restores UAI behavior.
- Recording improvements – The recording process has been enhanced further for better usability and stability.
- LocalClient Start Process arguments – Start Process arguments now work correctly in LocalClient scenarios.
- Select Case variable handling – Select Case now uses the correct variable value.
- Crosshair cleanup – The crosshair no longer remains visible after validation.
- Citrix image validation preview – The current image is now displayed correctly during Citrix image validation.
- Application block state handling – Enabling or disabling an application block no longer reloads the view to the top of the page.
- Functional mode testcase switching – Testcases now switch correctly in Functional Mode.
- Functional mode multi-selection – Using Shift + mouse for multi-selection in Functional Mode now selects the correct testcase.
- Recorder testcase display – The correct testcase or testblock now appears in the record window when clicking a testcase in Functional Mode.
- Flow completion handling – Fixed the issue around the “Flow has finished” behavior.
- WebTesting overlay state – The WebTesting recording overlay no longer stays red while hovering.
- Functional core runner stability – Resolved the Functional core runner exception.
- Copy to Folder stability – Studio no longer crashes when performing the “Copy to Folder” action a second time.
