LoadGen Studio on high DPI or high-resolution machines

Introduction

On machines with a high screen resolution or high DPI scaling, LoadGen Studio may not display correctly. You may notice that parts of the user interface are too small, too large, blurry, or not aligned correctly. In some cases, buttons, fields, or recorder elements may not be positioned as expected.

This is usually caused by Windows display scaling. To improve how LoadGen Studio is rendered on high DPI systems, you can change the DPI compatibility settings for LoadGen Studio.exe.

Symptoms

You may run into one or more of the following issues:

  • LoadGen Studio looks blurry.
  • Text or buttons are scaled incorrectly.
  • Parts of the interface are misaligned.
  • Recorder windows or validation screens do not fit correctly.
  • Controls are difficult to click or select.
  • Studio behaves differently on machines with different screen scaling settings.

Resolution

Change the high DPI compatibility settings for LoadGen Studio.

Step 1: Open the LoadGen Studio installation folder

Open the folder where LoadGen Studio is installed. By default, this is usually:

C:\Program Files\LoadGen\LoadGen Studio

Locate the following file:

LoadGen Studio.exe

Step 2: Open the compatibility settings

  1. Right-click LoadGen Studio.exe.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Open the Compatibility tab.

Step 3: Change settings for all users

  1. Click Change settings for all users.
  2. The compatibility settings window for all users will open.

This is recommended because LoadGen Studio may be started by different Windows users or from different contexts.

Step 4: Open high DPI settings

  1. Click Change high DPI settings.
  2. The High DPI settings for LoadGen Studio.exe window will open.

Step 5: Enable program DPI setting

In the Program DPI section:

  1. Enable:
Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings
  1. Set:
Use the DPI that's set for my main display when:
I signed in to Windows

Step 6: Enable high DPI scaling override

In the High DPI scaling override section:

  1. Enable:
Override high DPI scaling behavior.
  1. Set Scaling performed by to:
System (Enhanced)

Step 7: Save the settings

  1. Click OK in the High DPI settings window.
  2. Click OK in the compatibility settings window.
  3. Click OK in the LoadGen Studio properties window.

Step 8: Restart LoadGen Studio

Close LoadGen Studio completely and start it again.

If LoadGen Studio was already open while changing these settings, the changes will only apply after restarting the application.

Recommended setting

For high DPI or high-resolution machines, we recommend using:

Override high DPI scaling behavior: Enabled
Scaling performed by: System (Enhanced)

This setting lets Windows handle the scaling of LoadGen Studio in a more compatible way, which usually improves the rendering of the interface on modern high-resolution displays.
