WebTesting: NS_BINDING_ABORTED Error in Firefox on Linux Agents
When running tests on Linux agents using Firefox, you might encounter the NS_BINDING_ABORTED error. This issue often arises when a flow navigates to a URL that is already in use by the current test session. This article guides you through the steps to resolve this problem. The solution is straightforward: inserting a delay before the repeated navigation gives the browser time to finish processing the current request before starting the next one.
The NS_BINDING_ABORTED Error: What is it?
The NS_BINDING_ABORTED error is specific to Firefox and is often encountered when a request made by the browser is cancelled. This error usually surfaces during performance testing when the browser is directed to navigate to a URL that is currently being used in the testing environment.
How to Resolve the Error
Resolving the NS_BINDING_ABORTED error involves inserting a delay (think-time) immediately before the navigation step that triggers the error. This pause gives the browser time to completely finish processing the current request before starting the next one, which prevents the issue from occurring.
Workload scripts (.lgs) are recorded and authored in LoadGen Studio and then uploaded to the Platform. Follow these steps to implement the solution:
Identify the navigation step causing the error. Open the workload in LoadGen Studio and locate the Navigate To URL action that triggers the NS_BINDING_ABORTED error.
Insert a Pause before the navigation. Add a Pause action (from the recorder toolbox) immediately before the offending navigation action. A duration of a few seconds is typically sufficient; adjust as needed based on your environment.
Upload and re-run. Save the updated workload (
.lgs) and upload it to the Platform via Configuration > Workloads > Upload Workload (replacing the previous version), then run the test again to confirm the error no longer occurs.
