Manage API sources and environments
Mode: the create and edit controls described on this page are shown in Expert mode (sidebar footer toggle Mode: Basic / Expert). In Basic mode the page shows only Refresh.
Overview
Use these pages to manage API Testing inputs. API sources store OpenAPI specifications, environments store base URLs, headers, and variables, and auth profiles store request authentication settings.
Before you begin
- API Testing module is licensed.
- Have the OpenAPI specification URL for each API source you want to add.
- Have the base URL, headers, variables, and authentication details for the API target.
Steps
Step 1
Open API Sources. Click Add Source, enter a name and Spec URL, choose whether to use Auto-refresh, then save. The source appears in the table with version, status, refresh, and action columns. LoadGen monitors registered sources for changes and flags which flows are affected when an API evolves.
Step 2
Open Environments. Click Add Environment, enter the environment name and Base URL, add any required headers, allowed hosts, variables, and secret variables, then save. The environment appears in the table with header and variable counts. Environments let you switch between targets such as staging and production without editing each flow.
Step 3
Open Auth Profiles. Click Add Profile, enter a name, select the auth Type, fill the required fields for that type, then save. Use Token for bearer auth, Key Name and Key Value for API key auth, or Token URL and client details for OAuth2.
Verify the result
Confirm that the API source, environment, and auth profile are listed on their pages and that each row has the expected action controls for edit, delete, refresh, test, or related management tasks.
Troubleshooting
- If Add Source cannot be saved, enter a Spec URL. New sources require this field.
- If Add Environment cannot be saved, enter a Base URL.
- If an API key auth profile cannot be saved, enter a Key Name.
- If an OAuth2 auth profile cannot be saved, enter a Token URL.
- If a saved list is empty, clear the Search field and check the page again.
