Set up monitoring checks

Set up monitoring checks

Mode: the create and edit controls described on this page are shown in Expert mode (sidebar footer toggle Mode: Basic / Expert). In Basic mode the page shows only Refresh.

Overview

Use Monitoring to review monitoring profiles, check scheduled runs, start the New Monitoring Profile wizard, and manage Platform Mode agents. The profile wizard covers Name, Target, Agents, Type, Workload, Datasource, Schedule, SUT, Alerting, and Summary.

Before you begin

  • Monitoring module is licensed.
  • A datasource is configured. See Configuration: Datasources.
  • Know which monitoring agents, target environment, workload, schedule, and alerting settings you need.

Steps

Step 1

Open Monitoring Profiles. Confirm the Monitoring Profiles page shows the license agent limit, agents in use, and existing profile cards. Use Search to filter profiles, Refresh to reload the list, or New Profile to start creating a profile. Set up monitoring checks - step 1 Set up monitoring checks - step 1 detail

Step 2

Open Monitoring Schedules. Use Previous, Today, and Next to move through the weekly schedule. Confirm scheduled monitoring items appear in the time grid for the expected days and hours. Set up monitoring checks - step 2 Set up monitoring checks - step 2 detail

Step 3

Click New Profile to open the New Monitoring Profile wizard. On Step 1, enter a required Profile Name and optional Description, then click Next. Continue through Target, Agents, Type, Workload, Datasource, Schedule, optional SUT, optional Alerting, and Summary. Use Back to review earlier steps, Cancel to leave the wizard, and save only after the Summary matches the intended monitoring check. Step 4

Open Platform Agents. Review the How Platform Mode Works panel, then use Generate API Key if an agent must connect remotely. Select the agent, generate the key, copy the setup command when shown, and use Refresh to confirm the agent key appears in the table. Platform Mode agents connect over outbound HTTPS, so no inbound firewall rules are needed. Set up monitoring checks - step 4 Set up monitoring checks - step 4 detail

Verify the result

The monitoring profile appears on the Monitoring Profiles page, its scheduled runs appear on the Monitoring Schedules grid, and any Platform Mode agent has an API key entry with the expected agent, key prefix, creation time, last connection status, and assigned profiles.

Troubleshooting

  • If New Profile is not available, confirm the Monitoring module license is active and the license has available monitoring agent capacity.
  • If the wizard cannot continue from Step 1, enter a unique Profile Name before clicking Next.
  • If no datasource is available in the Datasource step, configure a datasource first, then return to the wizard.
  • If schedules do not appear in the weekly grid, use Today or Next and Previous to check the correct week, then confirm the profile has a schedule configured.
  • If Platform Agents shows no rows, click Generate API Key and select an agent. If the dialog says to select an agent, choose an agent before generating the key.
