Analyse: Saved charts

Analyse: Saved charts

Overview

Use this page to browse, open, and manage saved charts. A saved chart is a single-panel chart you built in Analyse: Analysis and stored with its "Save to folder" action so you can reopen it later without rebuilding its query, metric, and visualization from scratch. Saved charts are organized into folders you create, and each one carries a category tag you can filter by, turning a collection of one-off analyses into a reusable library.

Charts are created and saved elsewhere, in Analyse: Analysis, not on this page; this page only stores, filters, and manages what already exists there. From here you can re-run a chart's query live, jump back into the full builder to change its data or visualization, or publish it to the LoadGen Exchange so others can reuse it. Viewing and managing your own saved charts does not require a separate license: it is available to any signed-in user.

On this page you filter the grid by folder or category, open a chart to see a live re-render of its current data, edit its name, folder, category, or description without touching the underlying query, or delete a chart you no longer need.

Key concepts

  • saved chart - A single-panel chart you built and stored from Analyse: Analysis using its "Save to folder" action, so you can reopen or reuse it without rebuilding the query, metric, and visualization. (related: Analyse: Analysis)
  • folder - A single-level grouping you assign a saved chart to (or create new, by typing a name instead of picking one) so related charts can be browsed together in the left-hand list.
  • category - One of four fixed labels every saved chart carries, shown as filter chips above the grid so you can narrow the view to charts of one type without opening each one.
  • LoadGen Exchange - LoadGen's shared library of chart artifacts; publishing a saved chart there makes it available outside your own folder view.

When to use it

  • You want to reopen a chart you (or a teammate) built previously instead of rebuilding its query and visualization from scratch.
  • You need to find a specific saved chart by browsing its folder or filtering by category.
  • You want to rename a chart, move it to a different (or new) folder, or update its description for other viewers.
  • You want to continue refining a saved chart's data source, metric, or visualization in the full chart builder.
  • You're cleaning up outdated chart analyses that are no longer needed.
  • You want to publish a saved chart to the LoadGen Exchange for wider reuse.

Before you begin

  • At least one chart must already be saved from Analyse: Analysis using its "Save to folder" action; until then this page shows an empty state with no folders or charts.
  • You need to be signed in to the platform; viewing and managing your own saved charts does not require an additional Insight or BI license.

Common workflows

Reopen a saved chart to check its latest data

Persona: Load-test operator

  1. Select the folder (or All charts) that contains the chart you want.
    • Expect: The thumbnail grid reloads to show only the charts filed under that selection.
  2. Select the chart's thumbnail or its view control in the grid.
    • Expect: A view modal opens and the chart re-renders live against current data.

Verify: The view modal displays the chart with current values; closing it returns you to the grid without having changed the saved chart's definition.

Reorganize a saved chart into a new folder

Persona: Operator or admin maintaining a shared chart library

  1. Open the Edit chart details action on the chart's card.
    • Expect: A dialog opens showing the chart's current Name, Folder, Category, and Description.
  2. Type a folder name in New folder name instead of picking an existing Folder.
    • Expect: The dialog is set to file the chart into that new folder when saved.
  3. Confirm the dialog.
    • Expect: The dialog closes and the chart moves out of its previous folder.

Verify: Selecting the new folder name in the left-hand list shows the chart you just moved; selecting its previous folder no longer lists it.

Steps

Step 1

Open Saved charts from the Analyse section.

Expected result: The page loads with the folder list and thumbnail grid areas ready to populate; since no charts have been saved yet, it shows a placeholder icon and the message You have no saved charts yet.

This is the starting point for finding and reusing any chart you save from Analyse: Analysis.

  • New analysis opens the Analysis builder to create your first chart.
  • The Run an analysis and "Save to folder" → link is the same shortcut, shown only while the library is empty. Analyse: Saved charts - step 1

Field reference

Field Purpose Format / Validation Required Default
Name Identifies the chart in the folder list and on its card; choose a descriptive name since it is the only label shown until you open the chart. free text Yes the name given when the chart was first saved
Folder Chooses which existing folder the chart is filed under; moving it to a different folder changes where it appears in the left-hand list without affecting the chart's data. dropdown of existing folders No the chart's current folder
New folder name Creates a brand-new folder on the fly instead of picking an existing one; typing a name here files the chart into that new folder when you save. free text No empty
Category Assigns the chart to one of four fixed categories, which controls which category chip surfaces it in the grid; pick the category that best matches what the chart measures so teammates can filter to it later. dropdown, one of four preset values Yes the category chosen at save time; charts saved before categories existed get one assigned automatically
Description (optional) Free-text note explaining what the chart shows and why it matters; shown on the chart's card to help teammates decide whether to open it without opening it first. free text, multi-line No empty

Column reference

Column What it shows How to read it
Thumbnail preview (card) A visual preview of the chart's rendered output, shown on each card in the grid. A rendered image means the chart has a captured preview; a placeholder icon means no valid preview image is stored, typically on charts saved before preview capture was added.
Chart title (card) The chart's name as set in Name, shown as the card's title. Matches the Name value you last set when saving or editing the chart.
Category badge (card) Shows which of the four categories the chart is tagged with. The badge text matches the category chip vocabulary shown above the grid, so you can tell at a glance which chip filters this chart.
Description (card) Shows the chart's description text, if one was set. Hover over the text to read the full description if it has been visually truncated.

Controls reference

New analysis

Opens the Analysis builder to start a brand-new chart from scratch.

When to use: When you want to create a chart rather than reopen or edit an existing one.

Side effects: Read-only with respect to this page: it navigates away to the Analysis builder and changes nothing here.

Run an analysis and "Save to folder" →

The same shortcut into the Analysis builder, shown only while your saved-chart library is empty.

When to use: The first time you have no saved charts yet and want to create your first one.

Side effects: Read-only: navigation only, no data is changed on this page.

All charts

Clears the folder filter so the grid shows charts from every folder.

When to use: To browse your entire saved-chart library instead of one folder at a time.

Side effects: Read-only filter; no data changes.

Folder filter

Narrows the thumbnail grid to only the charts filed in that one folder.

When to use: When you know which folder holds the chart you want.

Side effects: Read-only filter; no data changes.

All (category)

Clears the category filter so charts of every category are shown within the active folder selection.

When to use: To see a folder's complete contents regardless of category.

Side effects: Read-only filter; no data changes.

Category filter

Narrows the grid to charts tagged with that one category.

When to use: To find a chart by what it measures when you don't remember its name or folder.

Side effects: Read-only filter; no data changes.

Open chart

Opens a view modal that re-renders the chart live, re-running its underlying query against current data.

When to use: To check a chart's latest values without editing it.

Side effects: Read-only: does not change the chart's saved definition.

Edit chart

Opens the chart in the full Analysis builder, where its operation, data source, metric, visualization, and customization are all editable.

When to use: When the chart's query, metric, or visualization itself needs to change, not just its name or folder.

Side effects: Mutating once you update the chart in the builder; navigates away from Saved charts.

Edit chart details

Opens the Edit chart details dialog to rename the chart, move it to a different or new folder, change its category, or update its description.

When to use: For quick organizational changes that don't require reopening the chart builder.

Side effects: Mutating: saves metadata changes to the chart when confirmed.

Cancel (Edit chart details)

Closes the Edit chart details dialog without saving.

When to use: To back out of a rename, move, or description change.

Side effects: None: no mutation.

Publish

Opens the flow that sends the chart to the LoadGen Exchange.

When to use: When you want to make the chart available outside your own folder view.

Side effects: Mutating: publishes a copy of the chart to the Exchange.

Delete chart

Opens the Delete chart? confirmation dialog.

When to use: When you've decided a chart is no longer needed and want to remove it.

Side effects: None yet: confirmation is required before anything is deleted.

Delete

Permanently removes the saved chart.

When to use: After confirming in the Delete chart? dialog that you want to remove the chart.

Side effects: Mutating and irreversible: the chart is removed from its folder and the thumbnail grid.

Cancel (Delete chart?)

Closes the Delete chart? dialog without deleting.

When to use: To back out of a delete action started by mistake.

Side effects: None: no mutation.

Verify the result

On a populated library, selecting a folder or category chip narrows the thumbnail grid to matching charts, and selecting a chart opens a live, up-to-date re-render of it in a view modal. Saving changes in Edit chart details immediately updates the chart's name, folder, category, or description on its card and in the folder list. Deleting a chart removes its card from the grid right away. If the page still shows You have no saved charts yet when you expect charts to be present, no chart has actually been saved into a folder: go to Analyse: Analysis and use its Save to folder action.

Troubleshooting

  • Symptom: The page shows You have no saved charts yet. even though you expect to see charts. Fix: Confirm a chart was actually saved with "Save to folder" from Analyse: Analysis; running an analysis alone does not list it here.
  • Symptom: A chart's card shows a placeholder icon instead of a preview image. Fix: This happens on charts saved before preview capture worked correctly; open the chart to confirm it still renders, or re-save it from the builder to generate a new preview.
  • Symptom: Selecting a folder or category filter returns an empty grid. Fix: Select All charts and All to clear both filters and confirm the chart exists outside that particular combination.
  • Symptom: Changes made in Edit chart details don't affect the chart's data or visualization. Fix: That dialog only edits name, folder, category, and description; use Edit chart to change the query, metric, or visualization in the full builder.
  • Symptom: You're unsure whether deleting a chart can be undone. Fix: Selecting Delete in the Delete chart? dialog removes it immediately and permanently; use Cancel if you're not certain.
  • Prerequisite: Analyse: Analysis - charts must be built and saved there with Save to folder before they appear on this page
