Get to know the Home dashboard

Get to know the Home dashboard

Overview

Use the Home dashboard to orient yourself in the LoadGen web interface. The page shows the main navigation, current status, key dashboard widgets, and entry points for common operator tasks.

Before you begin

  • You have a valid user account.
  • The web interface can reach the API.

Steps

Step 1

Select Home in the left navigation. The Home item should be highlighted and the main page heading should show Dashboard. Get to know the Home dashboard - step 1 Get to know the Home dashboard - step 1 detail

Step 2

Review the left navigation, then check the dashboard widgets. You should see Active Users, Test Status, Total Runs, Agents, Load & Performance Testing, and E2E Monitoring, with quick links such as Run Test, View all, Manage, Open Dashboard, and View Profiles.

The left navigation groups every licensed module under uppercase group labels. In Expert mode the order is MAIN, ANALYTICS, ANALYSE, TESTING, API TESTING, END-TO-END MONITORING, UPTIME MONITORING, SERVICE LEVELS, ALERTING, INSIGHT, SESSIONSIGHT, CONFIGURATION (followed by the CONFIGURATION: LOADGEN AGENTS, SYSTEMS UNDER TEST, API TESTING, TESTING, END-TO-END MONITORING, INSIGHT, SESSIONSIGHT and SERVICE LEVELS subgroups), SYNC, LAUNCHER APPLIANCES, INFRASTRUCTURE and OPERATIONS. Basic mode hides the configuration groups and Sync. Scroll the navigation to see them all. Each module has its own documentation section, see How to use this documentation.

Reading the dashboard

The Dashboard neither stores nor generates data of its own: every counter is read from the same source that backs the individual module pages. So a figure that looks wrong here is wrong at the source, and the fix is on the module page, not on this one.

The counters are only meaningful once the platform has something to count. On a new installation expect them to stay at zero or -- until agents are registered, at least one scenario is defined, and any monitoring profiles are active. That is the normal starting state, not a fault.

Panel Becomes meaningful once
Active Users, Test Status A test is running. See Create and run a load test
Total Runs At least one run has completed
Agents An agent is registered and heartbeating
Load & Performance Testing A load profile and scenario exist
E2E Monitoring A monitoring profile is active

A module card that offers Activate instead of operational links is not licensed for this environment; that is a licensing question, not a configuration one.

Where to go next

Each module has an orientation page in the MAIN group of the sidebar. They are the intended starting points: each one draws the module as a diagram, sequences the work as a lifecycle, and links into the pages where each piece is configured. Read the one that matches your question before opening a configuration page.

Your question Start here
How does the whole platform fit together? Main: Platform Map
Will it cope under load? Main: Load Testing
Is it working right now? Main: Monitoring and Uptime
Does the interface still behave? Main: API Testing
Are we meeting what we promised? Main: Service Levels
What was the infrastructure doing at the time? Main: Insight
How is it actually used and experienced? Main: SessionSight

Verify the result

The Home dashboard is open, the Online status is visible, and the main navigation, KPI cards, module cards, user menu, and footer links are available.

Troubleshooting

  • If Home is not selected, choose Home from the left navigation to return to the main dashboard.
  • If the dashboard shows No active test or Idle, no test is currently running. Use Run Test when you are ready to start one.
  • If Total Runs shows --, there may be no completed run data available yet.
  • If a module card shows Activate instead of operational links, that module is not currently active for your environment.
  • If you cannot find a module, use the Search... field or the left navigation group labels to locate the related entry point.
