Sign in and navigate the workspace

Mode: the sidebar footer carries a Mode: Basic / Expert toggle. Basic mode hides the configuration groups and Sync; Expert mode shows every licensed module. If a page or control in these guides is missing, check the mode first. See Basic vs Expert mode and the Features toggle.

Overview

Sign in to LoadGen and use the left sidebar to move from the Home dashboard to another workspace module.

Before you begin

  • You know your username and password.
  • If your environment uses SSO, use the sign-in provider assigned to your account. Providers are configured on Operations: SSO Providers.

Steps

Step 1

Open the Sign In page. If the Home dashboard opens instead, you are already signed in and can continue. Sign in and navigate the workspace - step 1 Sign in and navigate the workspace - step 1 detail

Step 2

Enter your username in Username, enter your password in Password, and click Sign In. After authentication, the Home dashboard opens with the left sidebar and your user menu visible. Sign in and navigate the workspace - step 2 Sign in and navigate the workspace - step 2 detail

Step 3

In the left sidebar, go to TESTING and click Run Test. The Run Test navigation item is selected, and the Run Test page opens. Sign in and navigate the workspace - step 3 Sign in and navigate the workspace - step 3 detail

Step 4

Switch between Basic and Expert mode with the Mode toggle in the sidebar footer. In Basic mode the sidebar shows the operating modules only. In Expert mode it also shows the CONFIGURATION groups, SYNC, LAUNCHER APPLIANCES, INFRASTRUCTURE and OPERATIONS, which is where almost everything is set up. Most instructions in this documentation assume Expert mode and say so at the top of the page.

Step 5

Use the Search... field above the sidebar when you know the name of a page but not its group. It searches the navigation, so it is the fastest way to reach a page whose module you have not learned yet.

Where to go next

Each module has an orientation page in the MAIN group of the sidebar. They are the intended starting points: each one draws the module as a diagram, sequences the work as a lifecycle, and links into the pages where each piece is configured. Read the one that matches your question before opening a configuration page.

Your question Start here
How does the whole platform fit together? Main: Platform Map
Will it cope under load? Main: Load Testing
Is it working right now? Main: Monitoring and Uptime
Does the interface still behave? Main: API Testing
Are we meeting what we promised? Main: Service Levels
What was the infrastructure doing at the time? Main: Insight
How is it actually used and experienced? Main: SessionSight

Verify the result

You are signed in, the user menu shows your account, the status shows Online, and you can open Run Test from the TESTING section in the sidebar.

Troubleshooting

  • If Sign In does not continue, make sure both Username and Password are filled in.
  • If the page reports that it cannot connect to the API server, try again after the server connection is restored.
  • If the connection times out, wait a short time and retry the sign-in.
  • If Run Test shows an Activate License message, the load testing module is not available for running tests in this workspace.
